Local Flavor: NOLA Edition!
Posted on August 29 2017
Hello everyone and welcome to a very special installment of our recurring "Local Flavor" posts! Today I will be featuring Bacchanal located in the Bywater in New Orleans! The concept behind it is unlike any other wine bar/bistro I've ever been to, so it's more than just a place to grab a drink. It's an experience.
When you walk in, the wine is arranged as though you just walked into a wine cellar in France... at least that's what I think. You can purchase wine by the bottle or glass.
Then there's the cheese. You can choose your own cheese (or charcuterie meats) to purchase, which will then be made into a custom cheese plate brought out to your table! With fresh bread and an array of fruit or vegetable-based tidbits to compliment your cheese, these cheese plates are to die for. You can make it as big or as small as your heart desires, but lets be real, big cheese plates are the best cheese plates.
I also got the grilled bavette steak, which I didn't get a picture of because honestly I was too excited to eat it. But if you love tender steak and chimichurri sauce... this is a no-brainer. The menu is short and sweet; full of thought provoking options that just sound delicious.
The outside area is a courtyard strung with lights and lots of tables. The live music every night is just the cherry on top to a wonderful atmosphere of good food and good drink. If you're ever in the area and want to get away from the touristy French Quarter, Bacchanal is a wonderful experience that I will continue to come back to!
Until next time,
